Bethel Blessings July 5 & 6
THE JULY NEWSLETTER WILL ONLY BE COMING OUT THIS ONE TIME FOR THE MONTH AND THEN WILL RESUME AGAIN IN AUGUST.
SUMMER FOOD & FELLOWSHIP: Food for Sunday mornings are: July 6th Donut Holes for the Holiday Weekend; July 13th food is provided by All Church members who volunteer; July 20 & 27 provided by Mariana’s Team.
JUMP YOUTH GROUP: A group of 20 youth and adults from Montana will be staying at Bethel from Sunday, July 20th thru Sunday, July 27th. If you happen to meet them in the building, give them a big welcome. They will be doing servant events around town for other churches.
BETHANY WITKOP & IAN CAMPBELL WEDDING: Don’t forget to RSVP by Tuesday, July 15th on whether you will be attending the wedding on Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00am at Bethel.
ONE NATION SCHOOL SUPPLIES: This year’s donations of backpacks and school supplies will benefit “One Nation Walking Together”, an organization providing services to Native Americans in Colorado and seven surrounding states. Please drop your donations at the table in the Narthex. The deadline for supplies is Saturday, August 23rd. Some of the items needed are: backpacks, #2 pencils, pencil pouches, scissors, glue sticks, erasers, crayons, etc. Contact Arlene Duenckel for more information arduenckel@gmail.com.
FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN: Mark your calendars to volunteer to feed the hungry on Friday, August 22 & Saturday, August 23. More details next month.
OCTOBERFEST CELEBRATION: Mark your calendars for an Octoberfest Bake Sale and Craft Sale and Sunday Luncheon on September 27 & 28. Details to follow.
HONDURAS MISSION TRIP: July 12-18, 2026. Speak with Pastor John or Bethany if interested.
BETHEL TRAVEL OPPORTUNITY - CANADA & NEW ENGLAND CRUISE TOUR: This All-Inclusive trip will take place September 25 – October 9, 2026. There is a signup sheet and free color brochures in the Narthex for those interested.
GROUPS & BIBLE STUDIES
BETHEL BOOK CLUB: We will meet on Thursday, July 17th at 1:00pm in the Library. The book we are reading is “Forty Autumns” by Nina Willner.
BIBLE STUDY FELLOWSHIP: This is a city-wide women’s bible class that meets here at Bethel at 6:45pm on Monday nights. They are taking the summer off and will be back in September.
BUNCO: This is a game of dice and fellowship. We meet on the first Friday of the month at 7:00pm in the Narthex area.
COLLEGE KIDS’ MAILINGS: is taking the summer off and will start back up in September.
COMFORT MAKERS: Bethel’s quilting group meets on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesday of each month from 9:00am – noon in the Christ Center. Throughout the year they create quilts to donate to Lutheran World Relief and the quilts are used around the world for those who are in need.
CONNECTIONS GROUP: This group is taking the summer off until September.
DINING OUT GROUP—Bethel's Dining Out group meets on the 4th Monday of the month.
GIFTS FROM THE HEART: We enjoy sharing the love of Christ with others by preparing and donating gifts. Our gift-giving includes specially prepared baby gifts for newborns at Bethel, recycling stuffed animals for foster children, three different types of gift bags handed out to the homeless, meals for shut-ins or families in distress, and household goods for displaced veterans.
GIRL SCOUTS: We meet every other Thursday at 6:00pm in the Youth Room.
HAND AND FOOT CARD PLAYERS: We meet the first Thursday of the month in the New Creation room from 9:00am – 12:00noon.
LIFE GROUP: We will be meeting Sunday, July 13th in the Library from 10:45am – 11:45am.
MEN’S CHALLENGE GROUP: Men, do you want the abundance God came to give you? Do you want joy and peace AND to advance His kingdom? Then come join us. Hear God lead you. Glorify Him. We meet at 11:00am on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at Bethel.
MEN’S MINISTRY BREAKFAST: We will not be meeting for the summer.
MEN’S UP AND ADAM: This men’s group meets at Bethel for Bible Study every Wednesday morning at 6:30am.
MERCY’S GATE THURSDAY LUNCH GROUP: This group is one of Bethel’s Outreach Ministries that will provide breakfast and lunch for Mercy’s Gate clients on the last Thursday of each month.
MICROBREW CREW: This adult group meets monthly at a local microbrewery. The July meeting will be on Monday, the 14th at 6:00pm at Oskar Blues Fooderies. The address is 118 N Tejon St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP: This group is for folks interested in photography from novice to experienced.
RUTH BIBLE STUDY: meets over the summer once a month – the second Tuesday of July and August. We are studying a book by Lydia Brownback – “1-2 Peter Living Hope in a Hard World”. We start meeting the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays again in September. We would love to have you join us!
SENIOR GROUP POTLUCK: We are meeting on Friday, July 18th. The Theme will be a post July 4th indoor picnic. Hot Dogs, ketchup, mustard, relish and Apple Pie will be furnished. Please bring picnic food to share like baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, chips, etc.
NEW STEPHEN MINISTRY TRAINING: Stephen Ministry equips caregivers – called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people in need. If you are interested in serving others in this way, please consider joining the Bethel Stephen Ministry team. We will be hosting a Stephen Minister training beginning this Fall on September 10th and ending on January 14th. Commissioning of new Stephen Ministers will be held on the weekend of January 16/17. We hope you will prayerfully consider joining this important ministry. We need you!
STITCHED WITH LOVE: This ministry provides an opportunity for you to make and donate crocheted or knitted items for infants and children. These can include white baby afghans (now given to infants at baptisms) or items such as layettes, booties, quilts, stuffed animals, etc. We also make a variety of handmade items throughout the year for donation to foster children through Cases of Love, infants through Life Network, winter scarves for the homeless, etc.
VARIETY DANCE: Variety Dance meets each Saturday afternoon in the Christ Center. The 2:30pm class is led by Gloria Pascua and the 4:00pm class is led by Sharon Oldfield.
WEB BIBLE STUDY: is officially off until September. We will be continuing the Mary Magdalene study we’ve been doing when we resume in the Fall.
WEST BIBLE STUDY: will enjoy its regular summer break. Our group will reconvene on September 3rd when we continue Liz Curtis Higgs’ study titled “Unveiling Mary Magdalene.”
