“Who Do You Think You’re Talking To?”

September 28 & 29, 2019

Nothing influences your prayer life more than

how you _________________ God.

1.  God has revealed _________________________________ in the Bible.

And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “Yahweh!  The Lord!  The God of compassion and mercy!  I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.  I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations.  I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin.  But I do not excuse the guilty.”  Exodus 34:6-7

I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.  Revelation 1:8

Why does the awesome Creator of the universe care about me?

2.  You are his creation, his _______________________________.

We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  Ephesians 2:10

3.  You are his ____________________________.

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.  John 1:12-13

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!  And that is what we are!  1 John 3:1

4.  You are the ___________________________ of his eye.

For the Lord’s portion is his people.  He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye.  Deuteronomy 32:9-10

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.  He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you but will rejoice over you with singing.  Zephaniah 3:17

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.  They cannot be numbered!  I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!  Psalm 139:17-18

How does your view of God affect your prayer life?

5.  God is just a ______________________________ away.

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.  So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.  Let the oceans roar and foam.  Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!

Psalm 46:1-3

“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our
first line of defense.  We pray when there's nothing else we can do,
but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.”
