1 million people die each year from malaria, but they don’t have to – and you can help. We can help! A $10 donation will cover the cost of a treated malaria net, education on how to properly use the net, medical treatment, and shipping of the net to people living in poverty. It will also prevent a mosquito from spreading malaria. Please consider buying a net pin or bracelet during the weekend of May 4 and 5. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Lutheran Malaria Initiative to support its three-fold mission of Education, Prevention, and Treatment. All money from the cancelled stamps will be use for the organization "Sew Much Comfort" which provides adaptive clothing, at no cost, to support the unique needs of disabled vets. They provide properly fitting clothing to add a measure of dignity and comfort for all branches of the military to recover. Please trim around the stamp so there is 1/4 inch of paper around the stamp. It is possible to still use the stamp, if there is less than 1/4 inch, as long as the scalloped edge is undamaged. Put any stamps you want to donate in the box labeled "Sew Much Comfort" which is on the ledge under Bethel's mailboxes. Thank you for your caring!

HELP NEEDED: Would you be willing to help repair a home for someone who cannot do it on their own? Thrivent is now sponsoring Thrivent Builds: Repairs, for homes that may need a bit of fixing up on the outside. We have been awarded the opportunity to do one home on Saturday, May 11. The house is located at 4930 Eldon Dr. North. We will need 8 volunteer workers per shift. The plan is that we will be replacing the siding on the back of the house and replacing the sliding glass door there. Then we will take down the front and replace that siding. Overhead door Company will be doing the garage door. This is an opportunity to rehab a house for some folks that could otherwise not have done the work on their own.
Would you be willing to help? The money is provided by Thrivent so what we need are helping hands and prayers for the project. If I get at least 8 who respond, we can do a Bethel shift or if only a few can work, we can join with another congregation. To work our own shift, we need at 8 workers. The shifts will run from 8:30am until noon and then 1pm until 4:30pm. Lunch will be served. Please respond to Joan Skoog at joanskoog@yahoo.com if you can help and what shift works best.
BOOKS NEEDED: Mercy’s Gate, our local agency that helps our neighbors in need, is in need of Christian Children’s books (in good condition). They have a bookcase in which our neighbors can choose reading materials for free. They can also use Bibles, fiction and non-fiction Christian materials and study guides, but they are particularly short on books for children.
FOR THE FOOD PANTRY: The most urgent need is canned fruit as they are almost completely out. Also needed is toothpaste, laundry detergent, deodorant, coffee, tea, sugar and macaroni and cheese. All these items can be brought to the church and placed in the wooden box to the left of the entry doors. Thank you so much for supporting this ministry.
Ongoing Pantry Needs—Bagged beans (pinto, lima, etc.), Ramen, rice, spaghetti sauce, tomato products, tuna, peanut butter, cereal, crackers, Jell-O, pasta, canned vegetables and Rice-a-Roni. Also, we are in need of boxes of tissues. Our neighbors are dealing with much stress when they meet with our volunteer intakes and tears are often a part of the process while getting assistance.
Fresh Foods—Fresh vegetables, fruits and dairy products: eggs, cheese and butter are gratefully accepted.
