MOMENTUM – Financial Peace University. We continue with our Bethel goal of 100% of our congregation attending Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University program. Our next class will start on Sunday, January 29th and go for 13 sessions. The class will be between services starting at 9:00AM in the Faith Forum. This program is for folks who want to learn more about how to manage God’s financial blessings, folks who want to have better skills at managing their incomes, folks who have debt, folks who want to teach children or grandchildren about managing finances – bottom line - it is for everyone!! IMAGINE the power of a congregation filled with families and single members using the Bible to manage God’s abundant financial resources!!! Please use the tear off sheet in the weekly announcements or contact Dave Geffre at 719 282-1750 or geffrefamily@aol.com.
SOMETHING NEW. SOMETHING DIFFERENT. SOMETHING YOU HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE.
On January 29th at 7:00 pm in the Faith Forum be part of a possible new worship opportunity at Bethel called Reckless Abandon.
Reckless Abandon – Authentically Seeking God with Passion
Scripture tells us in Luke 19:37 that the disciples burst into enthusiastic praise over all the mighty works they had witnessed. That is what this service is about - coming together, seeking God with a passion through song, praise and word. Giving ourselves over to God - unrestrained, without reservations and without holding back. Learning, praising and experiencing God’s unending grace. Come worship with us! See for yourself what it is all about. Who is it for? Everyone!
COMMISSIONING OF STEPHEN MINISTERS—Next weekend, February 4 and 5, five new Stephen Ministers will be commissioned for caring ministry here at Bethel. These lay ministers will be providing care for people who are grieving or otherwise in need. They have answered a special call to use their gifts to follow in Jesus’ caring footsteps. Please show your support and appreciation for these dedicated people by your presence at the commissioning services and through your prayers.
NEW BIBLE STUDY—Pastor Greg will lead a study of the insights, themes and application of the Gospel of Mark beginning Sunday, February 5, in the Christ Center. Bring your Bible and join the fun!
HEADS UP, EVERYBODY! February is the month we gather all the supplies for the Health Kits and Newborn Kits. But January is the traditional time for "White" sales. It may be a good time for you to buy towels and wash cloths on sale. We need a lot of towels--just the normal size and not too thick. I'll put a complete list of things we need for the kits in next month's newsletter. If you need the info sooner, just call me at 661-2063 or talk to me at church. Thanks so much! Marilyn Schroeder
CRAFTY CROPPERS FOR CHRIST—Our February crop will be at the church in the Christ Center on Saturday, February 4th starting at 4:00. A dinner sign-up will be posted. Questions? Call Carol at 388-0139.
The 15th annual Hearts for the Homeless Luncheon and Silent Auction is coming up soon! Sunday, February 12th at noon, Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) of Colorado Springs and its many supporters will gather at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for fellowship and to support families with children who are in homeless situations.

SOTTO VOCE QUARTET—Join us on Sunday, January 29th for special music incorporated into the 8:00am service.
The internationally recognized SOTTO VOCE QUARTET is America’s premiere professional quartet of its kind and has become one of the world’s leading low brass ensembles. The quartet enthusiastically challenges preconceived notions about what tubas can do by composing, arranging, and commissioning new works that highlight the diversity of the ensemble and its unique membership. Sotto Voce has three recordings on the Summit Records label: Consequences, Viva Voce and Refractions. The ensemble maintains an active international touring schedule throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
The artists who make up the quartet have widely diverse careers in music and are regularly in demand as performers, composers, and clinicians. Demondrae Thurman is the Orchestra Conductor and Assistant Professor of Tuba/Euphonium at the University of Alabama. Mark Carlson is an Assistant Professor of Music at Mt. St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD. Nat McIntosh, former tubist with the Dallas Brass, is the Sousaphonist and founder of the YoungBlood Brass Band, who tour internationally and have six CDs out. Mike Forbes is perhaps best known for his many compositions and arrangements and is a composer for Carl Fischer and Kendor Music. He teaches low brass and chairs the theory and composition area at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
The quartet will have CDs available for purchase in the lobby and will be on hand to meet people at the end of the service.

A Great Way You Can Help a Hurting Friend
Do you have a friend, neighbor, coworker, or relative who is going through a difficult time? Here's a great way you can help them--tell them about our Stephen Ministry! Stephen Ministers are members of Bethel who have received special training to provide high quality, confidential, one-to-one, Christian care to people who are grieving the loss of a loved one, coping with a cancer diagnosis, going through a divorce or separation, battling a chronic illness (or caring for a spouse or parent who is chronically ill), experiencing a great deal of stress, facing the loss of a job -- or encountering any of countless other life challenges. Stephen Ministers meet weekly with their care receivers to listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. (Males are matched with males, and females are matched with females.) The caring relationship lasts for as long as the person needs care. It's free, and it's a powerful way you can help a hurting friend. To learn how to connect someone you know with a Stephen Minister, talk with one of our Pastors. Our Stephen Ministers are ready to care for you.
